Mission Hills Group – a pioneer in China's hospitality, sports and leisure industry – has expanded its business across the cities of Shenzhen, Dongguan and Haikou. During its 18-year existence, it has evolved into a world-class conglomerate of hotels and resorts; golf and country clubs; international residential communities; award-winning spas; sports academies and pro shops to create a comprehensive set of unparalleled, luxury lifestyle experiences. Mission Hills Group is regarded as the leading leisure, sports investment and management firm in not only Asia-Pacific, but the world.

Since its founding in 1992, Mission Hills Group has skilfully leveraged China's economic reform. It selected 20-plus square kilometers of wasteland between Shenzhen and Dongguan to launch its prestigious business and create Mission Hills Shenzhen, the world's largest golf complex accredited by the Guinness World Records. Its 12 signature masterpiece courses are designed by golf legends from around the globe: Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, Annika Sorenstam, Jose Maria Olazabal, Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, David Duval, David Leadbetter, Jumbo Ozaki and Zhang Lianwei. Mission Hills Shenzhen is the world's only club featuring designers from five continents.

The "World's No.1 Golf Club" offers a wide range of first-rate facilities for golfers and non-golfers alike. In addition to the Tennis Academy at Mission Hills Country Club (Asia's largest tennis centre with 51 courts), it also houses three golf academies by acclaimed international instructors (including one from world-renowned teacher Cindy Reid), a five-star hotel, three best-in-class spa facilities, exclusive residential developments and much more.

Mission Hills • Hainan, in the capital of southern China's Hainan Island, opened in March 2010. It cements the brand's unique place among the world's leading resorts, and is central to a government-led initiative to make tropical Hainan the sports and leisure capital of Asia. Mission Hills – consistent with its legacy of spurring global investment in China – brings to the island its successful platform combining opulence with top-notch sporting and wellness experiences.

Conveniently located 15 minutes from Haikou's international airport, the resort occupies a vast, lava rock-strewn landscape of undulating terrain punctuated by ancient trees and sweeping wetlands.

Highlights include spectacular, golf courses; a world-class luxury hotel with 518 spacious guest rooms and suites; premium clubhouse; an outdoor water-theme park; a mineral-rich natural springs reserve; 12 delectable dining establishments; state-of-the-art recreation center; flexible function and meeting rooms; shopping arcade centre carrying the world's finest brands and esteemed spa facilities.

Devoted to developing golf in China, Mission Hills Shenzhen has hosted over 100 major international tournaments. In 1995, the club held the 41st World Cup of Golf. It was China's first globally-significant golf championship and broadcasted across the country. In 2007, Mission Hills signed an unprecedented agreement to host 12 consecutive editions of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup.

The club invited the world's number one golf professional, Tiger Woods, to China in November 2001. It was his first visit to the country, and helped established a new era of golf development.

Other recent professional tournaments include the 2003 and 2005 Dynasty Cups. These Ryder Cup-style events featured top players from the Asian PGA Tour competing against the Japan Golf Tour.

In addition, together with Wales' Celtic Manor Resort, Mission Hills hosted the Goodwill Trophy and Business Forum in 2006. This unique competition pitted the best golfers from Ryder Cup countries against the rest of the world. Linking East and West, the creative platform brought together leading personalities from golf and business.

Mission Hills continues its dynamic role at the forefront of China's golf boom with the launch of the Mission Hills Star Trophy at Mission Hills • Hainan in late October, 2010. This is a ground-breaking celebrity Pro-Am tournament featuring the biggest names in golf and the largest individual prize purse for golf in Asia Pacific.

Mission Hills' programs to grow the game also include amateur and junior golf initiatives. It recently established the Mission Hills Golf Series, has been the official home of the Faldo Series Asia since 2006, and founded the Mission Hills Jack Nicklaus Junior Championship in 2008. In October 2009, the club hosted the inaugural Asian Amateur Championship, Asia's first amateur tournament to offer the winner a Masters exemption. Mission Hills will invest over US$5 million in junior golf development in 2010.
